Ep. 2.11 - LIVE! with Juliana Spink Mills

February 9, 2017

Today on Keystroke Medium we have a special interview with YA fantasy author Juliana Spink Mills. She shares her love of storytelling and learning new things with show hosts Josh Hayes and Scott Moon. Born in London, and growing up in Brazil... she grew up bilingual and bicultural.

This, we all agree, is a great foundation for writing.

Juliana also shares insights into her novel, Heartblade, and what it is like to write YA novels versus short stories. While researching and planning Heartblade, Juliana researched sword fighting and actually joined a local sword fighting group (where she still trains regularly). Scott was searching for where to learn the “knightly arts” and purchase a training sword even before the show ended.

Everyone at Keystroke Medium would like to give a big thank you to the live chat regulars. Thanks! You are fantastic and we love your questions. (We hope you keep coming back for more.)

Ep. 2.09 - LIVE! with Thomas Barczak

February 6, 2017

Tom Barczak joins Scott Moon and Josh Hayes at Keystroke Medium to talk about writing and publishing fantasy. Like many successful authors, Tom is a hybrid author with both traditional and independent publishing credits. His latest release, Mouth of the Dragon, goes live on February 10th.

Tom is both an artist and an architect, having done performance art to include painting on stage with feedback and energy from the audience. Later, he wrote a series with the same type of organic process. During the section on craft, he explains his thoughts on writers on artists and some best practices, including when and how to plan / structure a story.

No time to write? Tom taught himself to adapt and overcome, writing in smaller segments to get a larger work done.

Leave us a comment and let us know what your thoughts are on Tom’s process.
