Ep 2.31 - LIVE! with Scott Bartlett

April 23, 2017

Scott Bartlett, author of the Ixan Prophecies and the Unable to Die series, had an interesting journey into the world of independent publishing. When many writers were breaking out with ebooks, he was successfully selling print books. His eclectic writing style once led him to pen a medieval comedy called Royal Flush. By the end of the episode Bartlett and the hosts discuss everything from military science fiction, books about corporate warriors, and character tropes.

Some interesting topics came up. Should you start a book with an action scene? What type action? What’s at stake? Fortunately, everyone on the show is familiar with the Brandon Sanderson writing series.

We dig into the Honor Harrington series by David Weber and share some opinions. Which, obviously, led us to the tech levels and Bartlett’s fascinating model for artificial gravity.

In summary, this was an excellent episode and I came out of it with a free book (see the Prequel giveaway link below.)
